As I approached the end of my final year studying journalism at The University of Sheffield, I came to the realisation that public relations was the career path for me post-graduation.
After gaining plenty of experience at local newspapers both in Sheffield and my home county of Northamptonshire, I started to contact PR firms local to both areas – which is how I came across Liberty PR.
During the Easter holiday, I joined the Liberty team as an intern. I was unsure of what to expect from the various sectors in which they work, but my experience at Liberty cemented my thoughts – PR is the career for me. The team was extremely welcoming and most definitely kept me busy.
Over the course of the week, I was set a variety of tasks which provided me with great PR foundations. Whether it was making calls to clients, writing press releases, brainstorming community engagement opportunities, or researching media contacts at local and regional news websites, the experience I gained was invaluable and really boosted my confidence.
I gained a real insight into the world of PR and acquired life-long skills which will help me throughout my career.
I am delighted to have secured a full-time position with Liberty PR which I will start once I have completed my studies at university. To be given the opportunity to work with a great team of like-minded individuals excites me for the future.
I look forward to starting my role in July to further develop my skills and confidence in the industry.
Liberty PR Account Director, Sam Smith, said: “It has been admirable to see such enthusiasm and application from Charlotte in a short space of time during a one-week internship with us at Liberty PR. Everything we would have hoped to have seen has been met and exceeded so it is no surprise that we’re all very pleased to have secured a full-time role for Charlotte, who will join us in July after completing her University degree.
“Congratulations Charlotte, and welcome aboard.”
